Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 14, 2026
Rondo ("the app") is built to be private by design. The short version:
the developer does not collect your data. Video editing and export
happen on your device. If you choose automatic captions, the app uses Apple's Speech
Recognition service as described below.
What the app does with your videos
- Video import, recording, editing, compositing, and export happen on your device. Rondo does not upload the full video.
- If you request automatic captions, Rondo temporarily extracts the video's audio and sends that audio to Apple through the Speech Recognition framework. The video itself remains on your device.
- Before the first transcription, Rondo explains this transfer and asks you to continue. Apple's system Speech Recognition permission follows.
- Temporary audio files are removed after transcription succeeds, fails, or is cancelled. The transcript remains only in the current editing session and is burned into the exported video if you choose to export it. Rondo does not persist either item on a developer server.
- The app accesses only the videos you explicitly select through the system picker. It has no access to the rest of your photo library.
- Finished videos are saved to your Photos library only when you tap Save, using add-only permission — the app cannot read your library.
Data collection
- Rondo has no developer-operated servers, accounts, analytics, tracking, advertising, or advertising SDKs. The developer does not receive the videos, caption audio, or transcripts.
- Apple controls how its Speech Recognition service processes and retains speech-related data. See Apple's Siri, Dictation & Privacy information for details.
- Purchases are processed by Apple. We receive no payment or identity information; the app only checks your Pro entitlement through Apple's StoreKit on your device.
Data stored on your device
The app stores editing preferences, your last selected caption language, your
acceptance of the caption disclosure, and Pro unlock status locally on your device.
Deleting the app removes this data.
Your controls and deletion
- You can revoke Speech Recognition access at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Speech Recognition.
- Deleting the app removes its locally stored preferences and disclosure choice.
- Rondo has no server copies of your videos, audio, or transcripts to delete.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date above.
